Chronicle Concering Books Little Red (Everland Ever After #1)
She’s gone over the river and through the woods, but who will protect her from the Big Bad Wolf?Rojita is in trouble; all she needs to do is get to her grandmother in Everland, but she’s being chased by El Lobo, one of the West’s most notorious gunslingers. It isn’t until she’s thrown herself head-long into danger that she realizes the old adage about frying pans and fires applies. She’s in desperate need of a protector, and hires the first man who comes along to get her safely to Everland.
Bounty hunter Hank Cutter is more than ready to retire to a lonely little cabin in Arizona, to hang up his gun and find peace. He’ll begrudgingly help the reckless young woman get to the nearest train station, because he figures she’d get into even more trouble on her own. But when El Lobo struts back into his life—Hank still has the scars from their last encounter—he knows that he can’t leave Rojita at the gunslinger’s mercy. Maybe he’s nobler than he’d thought, because he’s soon setting a trap to save the lovely, impetuous Red. The only problem is that she’s still keeping a secret that could destroy his trust.

Loved this grown up fairy tale! Caroline Lee brings the children's fairy tale characters to life in an adult version. I love how she uses the same characters as the children's version with an adult and more modern twist. Can't wait to read more from this series and author. My MusingsThis book didn't keep my attention. I never truly engaged with the characters. I would have liked more depth . Happy reading!
3.5 starsI precede my review with the warning that 1) it is definitely an adult retelling (nothing explicit, though), 2) it's rather love-at-first-sight (which does make sense for a fairy tale, but is something I tend to wince at), and 3) the Kindle version ends at 86% because there are two excerpts included at the end (disappointing for me, because it meant the story wrapped up a lot quicker than I expected.)This isn't the first non-magical fairy tale retelling I've read, but it IS the first
Started this book, and while there were a few mild curse words and got 13% in when it got to them laying by the fire together to stay warm and him waking to find her sprawled over him (to keep warm) but her one hand in his armpit and one in-between his legs (to keep warm) and then him getting aroused...I didn't feel the need to continue.
Cinderella was more my typeCinderella is an Everland book too and I liked it so much that I was in a rush to read another from the series but Red didn't even come close to the richness of characters and scenes in comparison. I'm glad I read it because I like to read and finish series and there is really good parts in the Red book.
This is really a 2.5, but I upped it a half star because of the ending confrontation. The use of Spanish in this books feels off a bit - but I can't say for sure because I know French not Spanish. The central heroine - Red - is almost too much of a ninny, and the hero - Hank - is almost too much of "she's a ninny but hot, so I will tell her how muh of a ninny she is". It is also a bit too much insta-love that is really insta-lust. Still I finished it, and the ending confrontation was good.
Seeing as I didn't finish this book, I'm not going to do my full review system today. It wouldn't be fair to the author or anyone who would like this book. I'll say it now and I'll say it again: I don't like smut. If you like smut, then this book is for you. This book is so suggestive and I know it was leading up to something nasty. I only made it to 26% before calling it quits. The two characters obsess over each other despite not knowing each other for more than a day or so. And the only thing
