Description Supposing Books Bobby Fischer Teaches Chess

This book is essentially a teaching machine. The way a teaching machine works is: It asks you a question. If you give the right answer, it goes on to the next question. If you give the wrong answer, it tells you why the answer is wrong and tells you to go back and try again. This is called "programmed learning". The real authors were experts and authorities in the field of programmed learning. Bobby Fischer lent his name to the project. Stuart Margulies is a chess master and also a recognized authority on programmed learning. He is a widely published author of more than 40 books, all in the field of programmed learning, especially in learning how to read. For example, one of his books is "Critical reading for proficiency 1 : introductory level". Donn Mosenfelder is not a known or recognized chess player, but he was the owner of the company that developed and designed this book. He has written more than 25 books, almost all on basic reading, writing and math.

Commentary Based On Books Bobby Fischer Teaches Chess
very good for absolute beginners

As some other reviewers have mentioned, a better title for this book would be "Bobby Fischer Teaches Checkmates." It's a useful book for chess beginners, introducing the pieces and how they move, and then teaching a variety of checkmates and defenses with the king on the back rank. It doesn't go further into chess than that. There is no mention of openings or middlegame, or even endgames that don't start with the king on the back rank. So with this book you may learn a number of checkmates but

I wanted to give this a higher rating, as it uses a great tool to teach the ins and outs of the game and is very readable. The good points that deserve mentioning are the use of a clever system whereby first a task is being explained and shown and then supplemented by exercises, and also the way this is supported by the lay-out. Those explanations and exercises are only printed on opposite pages, which makes it easy to concentrate on them. Having come to the end of the book the reader then turns

I suggest this book for everyone who wants to be a better chess player
