Free-spirited Heroine with Big, Traumatic Past falls in love with a serious-minded, potential POTUS. That’s pretty much it. Though there is no OW on the scene, author makes it a point to underline several times that the heroine is NOT beautiful like hero’s usual, beautiful, blonde girlfriends. But the heroine is more “interesting.” I could have maybe accepted it once, upon their initial meeting, but when the hero keeps thinking that and even outright compares her to other women, I wanted to bash his face in.

George Bernard Shaw once said: "The possibilities are numerous once we decide to act and not react." . In the third book of the MacGregor series, this is pretty much the hidden and often implied moral.Alan MacGregor, Daniel's firstborn, is the only child of his that hasn't found his sweetheart yet. His career as a Senator is a success, and he has a very promising path to presidency ahead of him, should he decide to tread that way. Marriage is not something he cares for, at least not until hisfinally done! of course I left it at school and had to find the audio version on Scribd... But it was of course amazing. I loved the parts with Daniel and his being appalled that Alan would be so moved by a lying, theiving Campbell (!!) of all people!
When Senator Alan MacGregor, at a staid D.C. political party, sees a woman who is dressed in vibrant colors, he immediately wants to meet her. Shelby Campbell is drawn to the handsome young politician. But, after witnessing her father's death, she is scared to love again. It is up to Alan to try and figure out how to win her heart.This is definitely an early romance from Roberts but still an enjoyable read. Even then she had the voice that has made her a major force in Romancelandia today.

4.5 Stars..I want to read the book that the Hero is the Politician for long time. I love Alan. He is intelligent and witty. Denial MacGregor, Alan's Father is the most Fantastic!! He is so clever and witty. Shelby, the Heroine, she is strong and intelligent, so perfect for being MacGregor's daughter-in-love. The Dialogue is Great!! It's Sharp, especially the Auguring between Denial and Shelby. It made me WOW wow WOW, then laugh out loud! lol! I LOVE the Playing Card scene, as well! this scene is
I love Shelby. I love that shes a potter and completely her own woman. A fun read, and one of my rereads. A book that foreshadows what a superb writer Nora Roberts has become; she gets better with every book.
Ok, but not as good as the others in seriesTwo big pet peeves: 1) no means no and 2) unresolved stuff. Out of all the characters in the series (and I read this one last and out of orders), Shelby was the most irritating one who I kept thinking "therapy might help." I get the traumatic incident as causing the fear and indecisiveness, but it was irritating after a while.And regarding the "no."
