Interpretation Concering Books This World We Live In (Last Survivors #3)
It’s been a year since a meteor collided with the moon, catastrophically altering the earth’s climate. For Miranda Evans, life as she knew it no longer exists. Her friends and neighbors are dead, the landscape is frozen, and food is increasingly scarce. The struggle to survive intensifies when Miranda’s father and stepmother arrive with a baby and three strangers in tow. One of the newcomers is Alex Morales, and as Miranda’s complicated feelings for him turn to love, his plans for his future thwart their relationship. Then a devastating tornado hits the town of Howell, and Miranda makes a decision that will change their lives forever.Rating About Books This World We Live In (Last Survivors #3)

You ever read a book that makes you want to run to the grocery store and stock up on batteries, canned food, and eye the moon with suspiscion? No? Well, friends, I think you need to check out the Moon trilogy by Susan Beth Pfeffer. The first book, Life As We Knew It, set my heart racing, as I read about Miranda's seemingly ordinary life, and the mundane things she struggled with when her life changes after an asteroid hits the moon, thus knocking it out of orbit. I never got around to readingI'm almost finished this one, the third book in Pfeffer's "oh crap the moon was hit be a meteor and moved closer to the Earth causing complete havoc" series. This diary-style YA book has the female protagonist from book 1 (Miranda) meeting the male protagonist in book 2 (Alex). The female is back to telling the story. My criticisms of book 1 arise again in this book. Most of this story could be summarized with "We're hungry and bored. Will we have enough food to survive?" Although realistic
I really enjoyed book 3 of the Last Survivors series. I feel that it was a bit darker this time around, but I like how the dynamics had been set up for the most part. I wish we got to hear more from Miranda's perspective of their voyage after leaving their home, but it was a great way to tie off her story! I'm really excited to read the last book in the series!

Ableist garbage.A character becomes paralyzed after an accident and everyone starts talking about how death is preferable to living with a disability and the MC literally murders that character as a "mercy." Look, I understand the world but that's not a good argument for this happening. First of all, that decision was NOT the MC's to make. But moreso, why write this in at all? It only served to dehumanize people with disabilities. Just killing off the character would have been quicker and not
The third in the series is treading on thin ice (get it- the Earth is now freezing) as the combination of Miranda and Alex's families occur. The relationship between these two main characters should be better, but Alex is holier than thou and Miranda seems watered down from her original kick-ass persona from the first book. This new band of survivors need to find a better option of where to live and plan on how to make it happen. Although this third book falls far from the first book, it still
I'm glad I read this, but it didn't leave me feeling very happy. It's all so very bleak! I kept thinking, "The sun is NEVER going to come back?" If that's the case, we need a fourth book telling the story of a group of survivors leaving Earth on a rocketship seeking a brand new planet!I did like that Susan Beth Pfeffer returned to the diary format for this book, although I kept thinking, "No one records this much actual conversation in their diary!" I also liked the sneaky way she caught us up
(Make disgusted noise in the back of throat)Proof that even interesting, deep sounding scifi can be turned into fluff. No, not fluff. I generally enjoy fluff, even though I rarely find it satisfying. This is more like trash.NOTHING happened, except A LOT of whining, random acts of 'passion' (Alex: I hate you. Miranda: I hate you too. ), and breaking into houses, which is why this book gets two stars intead of one. Because let's face it. Deep down in each of us, there's a part that madly wants to
